A full-time performer and busy dad of two young children, Matt is considerably more haggard than this generously-retouched picture portrays. He is in his 17th year of writing, directing and emceeing the annual “Music, Magic & More” series at Boston Symphony Hall and, in addition to taking his solo act to theaters and corporate events, he’s been fortunate to appear in dozens of comedic TV commercials, promoting brands from Geico to Ghostbusters to Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen, as well as host a PBS series which earned him two Emmy nominations. He didn’t win. It’s fine.

Matt lives a double-life between magic shows, performing as a freelance puppeteer for The Jim Henson Company. He recently shared the stage with Jim’s characters in New York and Chicago where he was nominated for a Jeff Award for Excellence in Theater which he also did not win. It’s fine.

Matt lives in Rhode Island with his awesome sons and amazing wife of 17 years, Erin, who was kind enough to bear the summer heat of Colon, Michigan so he could compete in Abbott’s 75th Stage Contest. (Hey! He won!) She said he’d be foolish to miss this event due to the stellar lineup and the fact that she thinks his well-worn material could use some improvement.
